Topic: Homelessness
in Kuala Lumpur
Background:Homelessness is an emotive word that conjures up in
people’s minds image of an individual walking the street, smelly, dirty and
hungry, or the alcoholic, loud and drunk. Thus apart from the negative
connotation, there is no clear understanding as to what constitute a homeless.
The stereotyping has also act as an obstacle to tackling issue of homelessness.
In Malaysia there is no proper and adequate definition of homelessness yet.
Affairs of the homeless are lumped under the category of displaced and marginalized
groups which fall under the broader umbrella of the Ministry of Women, Family
and Community Development (MWFCD) with enforcement duty mandated to the Social
Welfare Department (SWD). Currently running of MWFCD is guided by four major
policies, the National Social Policy, National Policy on Women, National Policy
for the Elderly, and National Social Welfare Policy. None of the policies have
direct bearing to houseless and homeless persons implying that thus far this
type of marginalized group have not been receiving much attention.
Problem Identification:
What
are problem that homeless people face?
Every day problem
What homeless affect the society Malaysia??
Every day problem
What homeless affect the society Malaysia??
The effects of homelessness on a teen can be devastating and
lead to such problems as violence, prostitution, drug abuse and severe
depression. Because many teens who live on the street do not receive adequate
medical care in a prompt manner,. Depression is a major issue among many teens
on the streets. Those with depression or mental illness before they landed on
the streets many times are left without their medication. Dealing with the
stress of being on the streets in addition to the ordinary issues teens face
every day, can lead to violent outbursts at times, as well as suicidal
tendencies.
Aim and Objective:
Many people are not aware many village people in Malaysia come to the KL to get job but when they come there is no job for them here and they become homeless and they have no money to go back to their village
Motivation:
Working
with an NGO Reach Out have made me realize
that just in Malaysia itself we have a serious homeless issue that need to be share with people. We
are losing our humanity and many people who live in the city do not realize
this problem.
Ideation and Concept:
My
concept on this topic is to provide a video documentary about homeless in KL. This video
will provide the information
about how they become homeless and how we can help them
Review, Analysis and Precedent Studies:
Research topic: Environment
Topic: Waste incineration
Background:Each
day, Malaysians produce about 19,000 tonnes of garbage (2,100 tonnes in KL),
and all of that waste has to go somewhere. However, out of convenience, instead
of proper waste management, people would rather choose to conduct harmful ways
to get rid of waste including waste incineration.
Since the issue, in this context, is the lack of awareness and understanding
of the citizens towards waste incineration, the research aims at establishing
this information and instill in the people’s minds of the knowledge of proper
ways to manage waste.
Waste
incinerators are toxic to public health and as well to the economy, environment,
and the climate. As a matter of fact, the Housing and Local Government Ministry
plans to conduct a three-week "working laboratory" from March 26 to
study the best incineration system for Malaysia in order to combat the unsafe
procedure.
Problem
Identification:
- Public health..
- Air pollution
- damage to the earth
- damage to future generation
Aim and Objective:
Many people are not aware
of the effect of waste incineration like climate change, landslide, flood,
biodiversity, and etc. How are we going to live in the world if the earth is
getting weaker due to our own fault. Creating awareness about this important
issue so that we can prevent more damage to the earth and the future generation
can enjoy the earth as much as we do now
Motivation:
I just realize
that just in Malaysia itself we have waste in issue that need to be share with people.
We are losing our future generation by our hand. We need to wake up and see
that we are losing our future generation.
Ideation
and Concept:
My
concept on this topic is to provide To
create and about motion
graphic on Waste and the
effects in our life also encourage people to recycling in order to sustain the
earth for our future generation
